Waterfront Lots on Casey Key
With amazing and dynamic views of the Gulf, Bay or even both, Casey Key waterfront land is highly desirable, yet very limited in supply. The ground elevations are typically higher here than most neighboring barrier islands. Average lots on the island run from half to five acres and range anywhere from $795,000- $6.9 million per parcel. Land for sale includes private beach front parcels, tranquil bay fronts or both.
History of Casey Key
In 1849, when one of the first maps was made of the area, the island was known as Chaise's Key. The island received its strange name from a growth of trees on the island facing the Gulf of Mexico. Seamen swore that the clump of trees looked exactly like a chaise. The name was later changed to Casey Key after Captain John Charles Casey. Captain Casey was assigned to the area to help remove the Seminole Indians. For a short period in the 1920's, the name was changed by developer EC Warren to Treasure Island. The Treasure Island bridge at the north end of the Island was constructed and opened in 1923. After the land boom, residents later decided to revert back to the current name of Casey Key. Beach house owners here often refer to the area as "Casey."

Living on Casey Key provides the ultimate private atmosphere, yet major grocery stores, shopping and dining are only minutes away. In addition, all of the amenities and culture activities in Sarasota are only a short drive from home. Residents on the north end of the island can actually walk the beach to Siesta Key over Midnight Pass. Siesta Key beach was recently rated the 3rd best beach in the world. St. Armand’s Circle is also nearby, where you can enjoy exquisite shopping and five-star dinning. It is no wonder why this is such an amazing place to live.
